Vacation Rentals - The New Way To Travel

When I am traveling with any more than four people, the sleeping arrangement is always the first issue to tackle. No one wants to be the odd man out and end up on the sleeper sofa; and that's if your hotel room comes equip with this extra option. When I find myself in this sort of situation, my immediate thought is to reserve a hotel suite. We all know that hotel suites can land a bit on the pricey side and by the time you reserve more than one room, you will see your costs increase just the same. Now it is off to Plan B...a vacation rental! Vacation rentals give you the best of both worlds. They allow you to enjoy more space and are surprisingly less expensive (in many cases) than going the hotel route.

Colorado Rental

Vacation rentals typically come completely hooked up and really remind you of home. Most come fully decorated and include a fully stocked kitchen, linens and towels, a television and DVD player, and a washer and dryer. You will also love the extras that come along with vacation rentals stays like grocery service, full meal plans (with your own personal chef), or a personal driver that takes you anywhere you want to go. These do come at an addition cost, but when compared to a hotel stay with the same amenities; you are going to have to give up your arm, your leg, and a finger...seriously. And that leads me to question...why aren't more people opting for this experience?

Rome Rental

Well, there are many reasons. Some think it's more expensive than staying in a hotel, others don't like the feeling of staying in someone's home and they question its "cleanliness" (ex. germ a phobe or those OCD people like me), and some just don't know it’s an option. Being in the travel industry for over 10 years here is my 25 cents of those "reasons":

Cabo San Lucas Rental

1. More Expensive Than a Hotel: Wrong! Although prices can range from $100 per night to over $5,000 per night, there is something for everyone. In addition, you have to remember that you are splitting the cost. The more the merrier I say.

2. Not Clean or "Maintained": Wrong! Many of the vacation rentals are held under property management companies whose responsibility is to make sure the property stays up to standard and this includes frequent house cleaning. You can be sure that your bed linens will be washed before you arrive and after you leave to prepare for the next guest; no different than a hotel.

3. Not Aware of the Option: I have come across a few sites that are my go to when I am looking for vacation rentals. Homeaway.com and VRBO.com have a wide range of properties in almost every city in the world. These sites specialize in legit properties listed by owners and managers. They have ratings, customer feedback, and photos from previous visitors that can help you determine what location works best for you.

Texas Rental

Don't take my word for it...give the rental route a try the next time you are traveling with a group. I would even recommend you research a vacation home if you are looking to experience something different. I wouldn't mind a personal chef on my next vacation and I am sure that doesn't sound too shabby, now does it?
