You guys know we love our cocktails; wine, whiskey, cognacs…hell, most things that have an alcohol content above 8%. However, we hate all the empty calories that come with consuming just one or two drinks. Imagine our joy when we were introduced to Eppa. Oh - you have not had the pleasure of meeting her yet?!?!? Well, let us do the honors. Her full name is Eppa Superfruit Sangria, and she is one smooth and refreshing summer find! She is the first certified organic sangria and boasts a 120 calories per glass and let's not forget the 8.5% alcohol content.
Question…if we drank 2 bottles in 2 hours do we still get to brag about the low calories? Whatever, we digress. This tasty light bodied sangria will appeal to many different palates. Crafted from organically grown Mendocino Cabernet and Syrah; its natural citrus essence as well as Mediterranean blood oranges, acai berries, blueberries, and pomegranates organic juices, make it fruity with distinct notes that are characteristic of a Cabernet. Now you see where she gets her middle name Superfruit from huh! These "superfruits" give Eppa twice the antioxidants as a glass of red wine. So drinking Eppa offers protection against the 3C’s - cancer, cholesterol, and cardiovascular diseases (damn she’s good).
Eppa Sangria is crafted in northern California at the foothills of Duncan Peak in Mendocino County. She is well priced at $11.99 per bottle, making her a luxury that everyone can enjoy. Locally, you can pick up a bottle or a few (yes we meant a few) at Whole Foods Market. She can be served with a little soda, with a splash of gin, over ice in a wine glass, or poured into an ice filled pitcher with fresh fruit slices. We went with the fresh fruit option, but decided to put chunks of fruit into the pitcher instead of slices. The best part was at the end when we got to eat all the fruit that had soaked up the sangria; can you say adult fruit salad.
Now that you’ve met her you can’t ignore her. Eppa will be the life of your next party and requires minimal introduction. Eppa is a great choice for your Sunday brunch or hanging out with the girls. Hey, even the guys should give Eppa a go and we guarantee she will give them a run for their money. As the old school King Cobra malt liquor states, "don't let the smooth taste fool ya!".Urban Swank did receive complimentary products, but we were not compensated for this post and opinions are those of the author.
