Wikipedia says, "A trilogy is a set of three works of art that are connected, and that can be seen either as a single work or as three individual works". Here, the works of art I am referring to are the delicious desserts that come out of Pastry Chef Vanessa O’Donnell's kitchen.
Four years ago, in Katy, Texas, is where the trilogy began. O’Donnell was only 26 years old when she opened her first Ooh La La Dessert Boutique. Let’s just face it...age ain’t nothing but a number here folks, and when you got it, you got it! Chef O’Donnell definitely has IT. She shows and proves every time she creates a new mouth-watering, give me those fucking calories, decadent dessert (how do I really feel?).
Ooh La La is more than just cupcakes. They also have cheesecakes, cakes, pies, pastries, cookies, dessert bars, and much more. The cupcakes however are the stars of this show and their flavors vary daily. A few of my favorites are:
*Italiano - vanilla cake with chocolate chips, coconuts and pecans folded in, topped with fluffy cream cheese icing (seriously sinful)
*Tuxedo (only available on Saturday) - chocolate cake topped with white chocolate butter cream, topped with white chocolate and chocolate chunks
If you are into food porn check out their online menu. Dessert lovers be warned; download at your own risk because it can be extremely dangerous, especially on an empty stomach. Let me put it like this… if your dreams are in color and include lumps of sugar, butter, chocolate, cream cheese, peanut butter cups, cupcakes, cheesecakes, cookies, and pies; you’ll probably wake up inside your car sitting in front of an Ooh La La Dessert Boutique saying, "open, open, open!".
The biggest thing I’ve noticed O’Donnell’s cakes and cupcakes have going for them, besides being super cute and yummy, is they are MOIST! Seems simple, but this one thing has brought kingdoms down; dessert ones of course. Ooh La La has three fabulous locations (duh, trilogy reference) - Town & Country, Cinco Ranch, and Park Row; all of which are outside the loop. So inner loop dessert spots you can breathe a sigh of relief for now, but with each new location she is getting closer and closer. Beware! Chef O’Donnell is kicking dessert ass and taking names (JUST SAYIN)!
