Fab Find: Crawfish Bread from Beaucoup Bar & Grill

I have a Fab Find that has been on my personal list of favorites for years. It is the Crawfish Bread from Beaucoup Bar & Grill - for the lifers you may remember them as Beaucoup Wings N Wings which is their old location that was directly across from UH (Elgin and Scott St.). It is the stuff that food dreams are made of definitely! If you are reading and thinking, "What in the world is Crawfish bread?", it is what I like to think of as a Louisiana style pizza. Why the hell not? - Chicago has deep dish, New York has thin crust, so why can't they?!?! Here's what it is…a sautéed crawfish sauce made with crawfish tails (whoo hoo, no peeling and sucking required), served atop a half-loaf of French bread that is topped with a light roux and cheese, then finished in the oven (or on a pit) until it's toasted perfectly.

Beaucoup's rendition of this famous Louisiana classic, drenched in cheesy goodness with crawfish tails dancing on top, is much the same as the standard recipe above. However, I have noticed over the years they've refined their recipe and the way they present it a bit. Honestly, I LOVEd it the old way better - it was less pretty, sloppier, and had more crawfish. Don't get me wrong, I still jump in my car and make the trip from West Houston to their location off Highway 288, because it's still that good. Just something that has been quite noticeable, and left me thinking, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Another one of my favorites is their House-made Lemonade, which comes in Original, Strawberry, and Raspberry; most of the time I will opt for the Strawberry. I would be a complete loser if I failed to mention that the lemonade is very sweet - I'm talking sugar directly in your veins, head spinning sweet. For those that like drinking straight sugar with a little favor, you will be in heaven or a diabetic comaTongue Out. Others have found adding a little water to dilute it a bit does the trick, or even adding a little vodka and ice works nicely.

Give them a try and let me know what you think. In my mind it's pretty simple…try it, you'll like it!
